TCC Meeting #23 of 2025

Last Thursday, on October 2, The Corridor Counts, Inc., met and was joined by Cynthia Nunez and her campaign manager, Nicholas Felt. Mrs. Nunez is running for Nassau County Legislative District 14, and she was invited to TCC to speak about her platform and policy points. After a great conversation, the group decided to endorse her.

In addition, members spoke about their concerns surrounding the increase in public drug use around Hempstead. TCC plans to move forward as a community partner to co-host a town hall with RAPP, New Hour, Long Island Progressive Coalition, and Center for Community Alternatives about harm reduction and community safety on October 16th at 6 pm in Hempstead. The group also plans to invite the mayor, the MTA, and the NICE bus.

Following this, James Hodge spoke to TCC and encouraged people to vote for Petros Krommidas for Nassau County Legislative District 4 after a judge ruled that Krommidas’ name would not be removed from the ballot, despite his tragic disappearance in April 2025. Hodge says that if Krommidas wins the District 4 seat, a special election will be held and a Democrat will be elected in Krommidas’s place.

The group moved on to discuss the letters that TCC is penning about the missing $300,000 from the Hempstead School District, the death of the ICE detainee in the Nassau County Jail, and the request for Assemblyman Burroughs and Senator Bynoe to visit TCC and talk to us about charter schools. Lastly, the group discussed what the final version of the 2025 Voter’s Guide should look like.

TCC meets every Thursday at 6:30 pm at 556 Peninsula Blvd. Hempstead, NY 11550. Please join us in this important work - all are welcome!
